Dear Friends:

Evergreen Valley United Methodist Church is young in its mission and ministry but it has already touched the lives of many people.

Ever since being presented to Evergreen Valley United Methodist Church, my family and I have experienced the specialness of this church. The church is by simple definition "people." As I reflect on leading this congregation I become re-enthused because I know that I am with people who, by the Grace of God, can find something that will make life absolutely wonderful.

I encourage everyone to be an active part of this church and ministry. John Wesley said, "The Bible knows nothing of private religion. " He was referring to the small groups that were the spark for growth in Wesley’s development of ministry and becoming a relational church. As then, it is still in groups that we begin to grow in our faith. God comes to us through the prayers, encouragement, touch and admonitions of our sisters and brothers in Christ. I encourage you to become an active part of this church by being involved in meaningful small groups and inviting others to join you.

The book of Acts says: "Every day they continue to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all people. And the Lord added to their numbers daily those who were being saved." (Acts 2:46,47)

God continues to work in individual lives and the life of this church. May all who enter into the life of this church experience and share God in all of God’s fullness: Mercy, Grace, Love, and Peace.

Reverend Robert (Bob) E. Chicou
